This 1925 silent film is an early adaptation based on the original book, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, published in 1900. In the movie a Toy maker tells a bizarre story about how the Land of Oz was ruled by Prince Kynd. Dorothy learns from Aunt Em that she is actually Princess Dorothea of Oz, and is supposed to marry Prince Kynd. She, Uncle Henry, and two farmhands are swept to Oz by a tornado and the story continues. The Silent Film series is presented in partnership with Wisconsin Public Radio and the Packerland Theatre Organ Society with Frank Rippl on organ.
