St. Vincent Hospital's Taking Time support group meets on the first Wednesday of the month from 6:30 to 8 P.M. in the St. Vincent Regional Cancer Center conference room in Green Bay. The support group is a place to meet others who are faced with the challenge of living with cancer. It is open to patients, family members, and friends.

Heckrodt Wetland Reserve's early childhood program series, "ToddlerTrails," meets the first and third Thursday of every month from 10 to 11 A.M. at the Heckrodt Nature Center. The program is designed for toddlers 12 to 36 months, accompanied by a parent or other adult.

Toddlers use their senses to explore their worlds every day -- touching, smelling, seeing, and listening. Toddler Trails provides a child-friendly experience guided by a naturalist, where they can explore nature using all these senses and more!

The fee for Toddler Trails is $4 per adult/child pair, $2 for additional older siblings. Note that toddlers require parental assistance; older siblings must be able to attend to themselves as program participants. A discounted rate for three consecutive sessions is available for $10/adult-child pair. There is no charge for children under 12 months or additional adults.

The Street Scene Truck & Car Club will be presenting their 10th Annual Car & Bike Show on Saturday, September 4, 2010. The event will be held at the Holiday Inn in Manitowoc, WI on the corner of I-43 and Hwy 151.  There are 34 classes with 1st, 2nd and 3rd place (bigger classes get 4th and 5th place).  We also have 9 Best of Show Awards (6 ft Trophies) and "New" this year 6 Best of Show Speciality Awards (3 ft Trophies).  Also "new" this year is a "Kids Ridez Class" such as Bikes, Trikes, Pedal Cars, Power Wheels, Lowrider Bikes, and anything custom.  There will also be a muffler rap contest.  This is a judged show.

LENA  DAIRY  FEST 2010    SEPTEMBER 10 & 11

This  year will be our 26^th Lena Dairy Fest.  All events and youth activities will again be free of charge.  No other community in NE Wisconsin does that.

This year on Friday we will have a lawn tractor pull to start off the 2010 event.  The pull should start about 6:30 P.M. – 7 P.M.   There will be no charge to see the pulls.  Vendors will be available for food and beverages.

On Saturday we will have inflatable’s for the kids, a climbing wall, pony rides, some heavy duty tractor pulls, petting zoo, horse drawn wagon rides, music, fireworks at dusk,  along with food and refreshments.  Included this year we will have our first annual car show with a special Kids Wagon Class, and additional 8 classes including over all Best of Show and People’s Choice voting, with trophies in all classes.  Saturday’s events start with a parade at 10:30 a.m.  This year we want to encourage parade participants to decorate their entries in a way that represents the spirit of Lena Dairy Fest.  First and Second prizes of $200 and $100 will be awarded to the best entries. The Car show participants can join in the parade with the car show starting after the parade.  Line up for the parade starts at 8 a.m. at the VFW on Main Street.  Early registration for the car show will begin at 8 a.m – Noon.

Southern Gypsy/ Haze,  an award winning band from Northeast Wisconsin,  will be playing Saturday from 3:30 p.m. until 8:00 PM.   Haze,  based out of the Fox Cities, is one of the most premier vocal groups to come out of the Midwest, winning such contests and awards as the “Star Search” Vocal Group Midwest winners, and were finalists on “Be a Star” in Nashville  to name a few.  Haze is a high energy, crowd pleasing versatile act that performs country rock and classic rock and are regional favorites booked at Country USA for the last 8 years.  They have performed with such national recording artists as Montgomery Gentry, Collin Raye, Emerson Drive, Charlie Daniels, 38 Special and STYX. 

We are having a brat fry this Thursday, July 15th from 11-2pm. 

All proceeds will go to helping those in desperate need throughout the world.

NORML-National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws mission is to educate and move public opinion sufficiently to achieve the repeal of marijuana prohibition so that the responsible use of cannabis by adults is no longer subject to penalty. Fallen Timbers Environmental Center is hosting its fourth annual non-competitive bicycle event for individuals and families. Saturday, September 11, 2010.  Ride for the Timbers' routes circulate through Outagamie, Shawano, and Waupaca Counties incorporating flat, rolling, and hilly terrain through beautiful countryside.  All four routes (10.5, 25, Metric 100, and 100-mile routes) begin and end at the Center.  Entry fees on or before August 27 are $25.00 for an individual, $12.00/child (12 years or younger), or $65.00/family of four.  After August 27, the fees are $30.00/individual, $15.00/child, or $75.00/family of four.  For further details concerning the event, and to register, visit the Fallen Timbers website at www.fallentimbers.net.  Center personnel may also be contacted at (920) 984-3700.

The National Railroad Museum's 2nd Annual Golf Outing plans are underway. The outing will be held on Friday, September 17, 2010 at the Royal St. Patrick's Golf Links in Wrightstown, WI. The event will be a four-person scramble and will feature silent auction items, opportunities for hole-in-one prize, putting contest, closest to the pin contest, longest drive contest, and a prize drawing. The fee for individual golfers is $95. Foursomes will be $380. Participants can choose to walk on a scenic 2.5 mile trail or quarter-mile paved walk for strollers or wagons.  Animal ambassadors, such as hawks, skunks, owls and porcupines will greet people as they hike the trail.  In addition to meeting ambassadors, walkers will encounter artifacts and other interesting information along the way.  Registration forms can be picked up at the Sanctuary or downloaded at www.baybeachwildlife.com.  Walkers have the option of collecting pledges in addition to the walk fee.  Registration with a shirt is $15 for adults (13 and up) and $7 for kids (12 and under).  Registration only (without a t-shirt) is $10 for adults and free for kids.  All proceeds benefit the Sanctuary's animal rehabilitation program.

The Bay Area Ice Bears Girls Hockey team will be hosting a Brat Fry at the Howard Piggly Wiggly.

The Ice Bears are a self funded program and fundraisers like this go to offset player costs.

There will be an auction on 09/25/10 from 9:00AM (items can be viewed at 8:30AM.  The auction will take place in the back parking lot of the Fox Valley Metro Police Department, 200 W. Mckinley Avenue, Little Chute.  Items auctioned will include various unclaimed property and bicycles.

KCHA Tour of Homes

The Kaukauna Community Health Associates’ 2010 Tour of Homes is Sunday, Sept. 26. Homes/businesses located at 2505 Coffee Hill Lane, N1839 Maloney Road, W2251 Secluded Court, 795 Tarragon Drive, and 127 W. Wisconsin Avenue, all Kaukauna, will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Refreshments, a raffle of gift certificates/prizes, a used book sale and a bake/snack sale will be held at the 1000 Islands Environmental Center, Kaukauna, during tour hours. Raffle drawing is at 4:30 p.m. Valerie Reinholz of VR’s Sewing will be featured from 1-2 p.m. at the nature center. Donations are $8; raffle tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. After the events of "Ice Age: The Meltdown", life begins to change for Manny and his friends: Scrat is still on the hunt to hold onto his beloved acorn, while finding a possible romance in a female sabre-toothed squirrel named Scratte. Manny and Ellie, having since become an item, are expecting a baby, which leaves Manny anxious to ensure that everything is perfect for when his baby arrives. Diego is fed up with being treated like a house-cat and ponders the notion that he is becoming too laid-back. Sid begins to wish for a family of his own, and so steals some dinosaur eggs which leads to Sid ending up in a strange underground world where his herd must rescue him, while dodging dinosaurs and facing danger left and right, and meeting up with a one-eyed weasel known as Buck who hunts dinosaurs intently.

Come and help us celebrate the honeybee and the gentle art of beekeeping during this annual event co-sponsored with the Waupaca County Beekeepers’ Association. Watch honey being extracted from the hive, beeswax candle dipping, and take in some short informational sessions including: What’s Inside a Beehive and What A Beekeeper Does. Of course, don’t miss out on our delicious honey baked goods and honey sundaes. Bring your family and friends out for some sweet sensations.
