Families will have the opportunity to create a Medal of Gratitude to express appreciation for the men and women who have risked their lives in service to the United States. While you create your Medal of Gratitude, we will discuss the purpose of medals and how the military uses them to honor soldiers who have served their country well. IT’S A HARD KNOCK LIFE! ANNIE TO WOW AUDIENCES AT DENMARK HIGH SCHOOL
Denmark, WI, USA-October 5, 2012-Denmark High School students will present their fall musical, “Annie”, the first two weekends in November. With its hopeful message and unwavering belief in a better tomorrow, Annie became one of the biggest Broadway musical hits of the 1970s, running for almost six years and playing 2,377 performances, and is now in the midst of its Broadway revival in New York. The musical won seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Book (Thomas Meehan) and Best Score (Charles Strouse, Martin Charnin), the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical, seven Drama Desk Awards including Best Musical, and the Grammy for Best Cast Show Album.
Based on the popular comic strip, “Little Orphan Annie” by Harold Gray, this show is a true delight. A timeless classic filled with good humor and a great message, Annie has continued to entertain audiences for years. The score contains a number of memorable songs, such as “Tomorrow” and “It’s a Hard Knock Life,” among many others. The students will wow you with their interpretation of the characters and Broadway-caliber choreography.
The cast includes: Mackenzie Linzmeier, whose vocal prowess and presence is unforgettable in the lead role of Annie; D.J. Ullman as the stoic and commanding Daddy Warbucks; Makayla Johnson, who becomes the lousy lush Miss Hannigan (you will surely laugh at loud at her portrayal); Laura Duescher as Warbucks’ even-keeled, in control secretary, Grace Farrell; and Tiffany Polzin as Molly, the smallest, most precious orphan whose performance is absolutely adorable. A talented group of elementary, middle, and high school students round out the cast as orphans, servants, Hooverville and New York City folks, and other colorful characters. The show is directed by David and Jennifer Harper, Heidi Linden and Lindsey Bosetski (student director).
For the first time, the musical will be performed over two weekends. The dates are: November 1, 2, 3, 9 and 10 with shows at 7:00 pm. The closing performance will be Sunday, November 11 at 2:00 pm. Advance tickets go on sale for $8.00 in mid October and will also be available at the door for $10.00. Annie is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. 421 West 54th Street New York, NY 10019 Tel: (212)-541-4684 Fax: (212)-397-4684 www.MTIShows.com
