Welcome to the Oshcars, an awards-show-themed exhibit that celebrates outstanding artifacts from the Oshkosh Public Museum’s collections. More than 100 star-quality artifacts heat up the red carpet as they compete in 20 historically themed categories. Meet VIP artifacts and collection celebrities and listen to their personal interviews about their rise to fame in this clever, Hollywood-esque exhibit. Then, become an Academy member and cast your votes for the prestigious awards, to be announced at a formal awards ceremony in spring 2013.

The exhibition features early students of Harvey Littleton who have carried on his legacy by further developing and sharing glass as a studio art. Hours: Tuesday - Saturday 10am-4:30pm Sunday 1-4:30pm Shop hours the same Admission to the museum is free, donations are appreciated and essential to our operations.

Come and enjoy this community party based around live hand drumming and belly dancing that you can participate with. Come out to watch, socialize, drum, learn, or dance. All are welcome to attend this free event.

Fertile Ground: Art and Agriculture features historic paintings and prints from the Neville's permanent collection, folk art and contemporary artwork by Wisconsin artists.

Pilgrim is hosting its annual Scholastic Book Fair and Cookie Walk the first weekend in December. This is a great opportunity to shop for great books and related educational and fun products. The Book Fair, held in the Narthex, will be open Friday, November 30 from 8-5 and Saturday, December 1 from 9-1. The Cookie Walk will be held in the Fellowship Hall on Saturday, December 1 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. We will be selling holiday cookies packaged and by the pound. Gillett Area Historical Society will be hosting their Annual Christmas Tea on Saturday, December 1st for the first time at Tabor United Methodist Church, 120 W. Main St. Hours will be from 1pm to 5pm. Tickets are available at The Cracked Cup, 127 E Main St Gillett, or from any GAHS officer. You may e-mail info@gilletthistorical for further details. Cost of both the Christmas Tea ticket and/or Tour of Homes is $7.00, or $8.00 at the entry.
Just a few doors down from Gillett Area Historical Museum, the historic Methodist Church has a close connection with the museum and history of Gillett. Rodney Gillett, the founder of the City of Gillett donated the land for the church to be built. The lot on which the museum stands once was occupied by Rodney Gillett's frame house, which was later sold to Benjamin Goldberg and subsequently burned to the ground a few years later, in 1908. The land was then purchased by Walter W. Smith who built the house that is now a museum. The Smith family was active in the Methodist Church since their arrival in Gillett in about 1910 up to 1993 when their last son, Walter "Butch" Smith Jr, who acted as Methodist church treasurer for a number of years, died.
GAHS members and friends will be decorating the church for Christmas, with a Christmas tree and the usual Christmas Tea tables laden with homemade cookies and cakes. During the tea, a Trunk Show of vintage clothing will be shown in two 15 minute segments, at 1:30PM and again 2:30PM. The traditional beverage table with tea, coffee and wassail will be set up at well. Look for the Gillett Woman's Club's special area, offering their usual bakery and fruit cakes for sale. All benefits to go toward Woman's Club projects. A history and tour of the church will also be available.

The Christmas Tour of Homes is included as part of the Christmas Tea ticket purchase. You should present your Christmas Tour of Homes brochure or ticket, which is available at the tea, when you enter the homes for the tour.
Just around the corner from the church on S. Birch Avenue (formerly known as Church Street) a first time home on the Christmas Tour of Homes will have an open house decorated for Christmas. This home was built in 1904 by Frank Korotev and has a history of its own. Much memorabilia of the home and Korotev family decendents will be on display.
The house named "Emily" on Richmond Street will again be open for tours courtesy of Kathy Campshure and John "The Seat Doc" Baumgartner, beautifully decorated as always.
A stop at the Gillett Area Historical Museum at 110 W Main Street is a must, as the traditional Christmas Tree in the front foyer will be decorated with crocheted red and white ornaments. Many recent donations are now on display throughout the museum. There will be a special showing of Dishes of the 50s, along with depression glass and carnival glass. Plans are being made to decorate Betty Mae's Playroom in the attic cupola for Christmas. Look for the new Christmas lights around the tower windows! You'll find many changes at the museum since the last Christmas Tea. Come "Discover the Museum With a Past"....and the church with a history... and homes with memories.

The spirit of the holidays will abound Saturday, December 1st 2012 as students of Barb’s Centre for Dance present their 14th annual seasonal program, “Spirit of the Holidays, A Celebration of Dance,” featuring original tap, jazz, lyrical and ballet works choreographed to traditional holiday music as well as upbeat, contemporary holiday music. A silent auction will take place during the weekend with each of the studio’s competition teams preparing a different themed basket of goodies along with many other special items including Green Bay Packers autographed items. The event includes special appearances by Miss Green Bay, Elizabeth Butler (saxophone solo), Celebration Church worship leader Mr. Ross Skorzweski; and Santa Claus himself.

This Saturday night, Dec. 1, 2012 friends and family of Daniel and Tammy Kempf are holding a benefit in honor of Daniel Kempf. He has been diagnosed with congestive heart failure, three blocked arteries, and surgery is not an option. Dan has no medical insurance, has been taken off work indefinately, and they are not able to make ends meet any longer. So we are hoping to help them out with their mortgage, electric bill, heat, and even medical bills. Come help us raise some money for them at Bear Lake Resort, Hwy. 22, Manawa, WI from 6:30 to midnight. We have many great donated items to auction off and give away with other games.
