Children are born to learn! This program will help parents find out how to encourage their child's learning throughout the early years. Topics covered with include how to support your child's development, effective discipline, creating a learning friendly household, and how to avoid some common parenting mistakes. A snack and free childcare is provided.

The Surise Optimist Club meets every Thursday morning 7:30 at the Harmony Cafe at 1660 West Mason Street Green Bay. Our goal is to help the kids at Jefferson Middle School. Join us for Breakfast and decide if you would like to join our club. Questions contact John at 920-360-5711.

The group will meet to share their personal experiences about coping with the disease, as well as have the opportunity to learn from educational materials, various guest speakers and social activities. The group will meet the fourth Thursday of every month in the classroom.

Join us for an exclusive film of a man who shares his story of losing a son to suicide. As a society, we've been taught not to ask questions after a suicide. But this only leads to more pain as family and friends deal with the difficult aftermath. This program offers hope and practical help

Living Well with Chronic Conditions is a six week class lasting 2.5 hours each week. Learn techniques to deal with the symptoms of chronic condition(s), fatigue, pain, stress and emotional problems such as depression, anger, fear and frustration. Other topics include: exercise, healthy eating, appropriate use of medications and working more effectively with health care providers.

This is for anyone living with a chronic condition or caring for someone with a chronic condition.

Author Drew Hayden Taylor will be visiting the Menominee Casino Resort, presenting on his various works, answering questions, and will be available to sign books. Light refreshments will be offered. Taylor's book, Motorcycles and Sweetgrass, was the featured give away at the College of the Menominee Nations Welcome Back event in August

Learn about the culture and papermaking in Brazil, Finland, France and Italy. Lots of fun hands-on activities and crafts-Venetian gondola, Finnish star, maracas, Pandeiro-like tambourine, and more. John Robertson, tuner/technician, will host a workshop on proper care and maintenance for pianos. This includes temperature and humidity suggestions, suggested tuning schedules, placement in the home and much more! Don't miss this free opportunity to learn from a professional!

Early 20th-century prints, paintings and drawings from Lawrence University's La Vera Pohl German Expressionist collection and photographs of sculptures and earthworks by Australian artist Andrew Rogers will be featured in the latest exhibition at Lawrence University's Wriston Art Center galleries. The exhibition runs Sept. 21 to Nov. 20.

Erica Scheinberg, lecturer of music at Lawrence, and Leslie Walfish, acting director of the Wriston galleries, open the exhibition with a presentation on German Expressionist music and art, Friday, Sept. 21 at 6 p.m., followed by a reception. Free and open to the public.

Gallery hours: Tuesday-Friday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Saturday-Sunday noon – 4 p.m; closed Mondays.

Community Emergency Response Team Training (C.E.R.T.) Class Fall 2012

The CERT training includes 24 hours of hands on and classroom instruction.

Classes will be held every Thursday, from 6-9 p.m. Classes begin promptly at 6:00 p.m., so try to arrive by 5:45 p.m.!
