Learn the Art and Science of Northern Climate Gardening! North Central Wisconsin and Portage County Master Gardeners invite you to Garden Visions, a day filled with horticultural workshops sure to satisfy the curiosities of all levels of gardeners from the novice to the advanced. Featured will be gardening experts from Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin.
Fee: $30.00 advance registration includes keynote speakers, breakout sessions, lunch, exhibits and free horticulture catalogs, magazines and door prizes. The day will conclude with a drawing for the raffle of a Mantis Tiller, Floral Quilted Wall Hanging and more.

Community Family Resource Centers, Inc., a non-profit organization offering family programming in Seymour and Black Creek, presents the 7^th annual Winterfest Family Celebration and Chili Cook-Off Saturday, January 26, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Seymour High School. Randy Peterson will kick-off the event with a fun family concert at 10:00 a.m., with carnival games, basket raffle and chili cook-off to follow. All proceeds go toward supporting family programming in the Seymour and Black Creek areas. Concert admission is $3/per person, age 1 and under free. The fifth annual Green Bay's Winterfest On Broadway is a day of fun activities for all to enjoy. Ice sculptors line the streets as event-goers watch them create their masterpieces. Throughout the day, families can get fired up at the chili cook-off and vote for the best. Hayrides and more outdoor activities keep the families entertained all day long. New this year, we are adding a giant ice sculpture about 10 times as large as the other sculptures. In addition, all ice sculptures will be lit that evening for people to stroll the streets and view them at night.

The Holistic Moms Network of the Green Bay Area is proud to present Dr. Stephen C. Marini, M.S.,D.C.,Ph.D., international lecturer on psychoneuroimmunology and vaccine issues, who has agreed to come speak to parents of Green Bay and surrounding areas! His four-hour seminar (with a break for lunch which is on your own...) will cover:
Organization and development of the immune system;
Interactions of the immune system with other systems,
especially nervous and endocrine as well as one's psychology;
T cells and T helper cells;
Patterns of interference promoting and sustaining T cell imbalance;
Approaches to rebalancing the immune system.

The Robinson Family: Jesse, Jackie, Sam, Riley, Debbie, Dave

David Robinson is suffering from Crohn’s Disease and was recently hospitalized for over THIRTEEN weeks. Since David’s initial hospitalization, he has had four surgeries, and has incurred mounting medical bills. Also during this time, the Robinson family experienced a house fire that left them without a home for months.

We are holding a benefit for Laurelann Smith on Jan. 26, 2008, at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Berlin, WI, from 4:00-10:00pm. During pregnancy she contracted an infection called CMV and had a stroke. She is three years old and is unable to sit, crawl, walk, or talk. She receives her nutrition via a feeding tube in her abdomen. Her doctors want her to have an intensive therapy program consisting of hyperbarics and physical/occupational/speech therapy daily for one month and insurance does not cover this. All funds raised will be put towards this therapy. Thrivent for Lutherans will match funds raised at this benefit.

MEGA is a hi-tech, fast paced, incredibly fun way to assist families with young children (ages 4 – 13), lay a moral foundation for life.

MEGA has been given a home in the Erickson Activity Center behind Living Hope Church at 1840 W. Mason St on Green Bay's far west side. MEGA meets every Sunday morning from 10 AM to 11:15 AM beginning February 3^rd. An OPEN HOUSE is scheduled for January 26^th, 2008 from 10 AM til 9 PM. Stop by and check MEGA out. Alyse Zabel Benefit

Alyse is the 11 year old daughter of Barry and Beth (Henke) Zabel of Ripon, Wi who was diagnosed Thanksgiving Day 2007 with Leukemia.

Alyse is in Milwaukee at the Children’s hospital receiving chemotherapy treatment to help fight her Leukemia.

"Daratt," (96 min., Not Rated)

Part of the 2008 month-long Tournees French Film Festival, hosted by Lawrence University. The film will be shown in French with English subtitles. Admission is $3 at the door.

Set in Chad following a devastating civil war, the film follows young Atim, whose father was murdered before his birth during the conflict, as he seeks revenge on his father’s killer. Instead of finding a cold-blooded murderer, Atim meets a charitable baker seeking redemption through religion. Atim can not bring himself to kill the man in cold blood, so he goes to work for him as his assistant, creating a strange and complex relationship. The film received the Special Jury Prize at the 2006 Venice Film Festival.

Event - Kites On The River

Date and time - 1/26/08 from 11am to 4pm

Place - Vet's Park and boat launch on the West Twin River in Two Rivers. Kite flying and demonstrations will be on the river. Direction to the venue is 18th Street west all the way to the park.

Event will feature single line show kites and dual line stunt performances by nationally acclaimed stunt teams. The stunt teams will perform kite ballet with movements tied to music. There will be chili and hot chocolate for sale. If you need to warm up, there will be an indoor kite exhibit in the Behringer Room at the Community House. The exhibit will be from 11am to 4pm. The Community House is located on West Park Street between 17th and 18th Streets.
