Fiberscapes – Experience Paper in 3-D.

Exhibit-goers wearing 3-D glasses take an exciting walk inside a sheet of paper. Enlarged fiber microscope images are projected onto the walls and floor, surrounding the visitors and inviting them to reach out amongst the fibers. There will also be a special display of prints and paper made from unique materials, such as: silk, cattails, & corn husks – an aesthetic beauty which generates a scientific interest. Included in regular admission price – members free, families - $12, adults - $5, seniors - $4, students - $3. Event runs 10am-4pm Mon-Sat thru May 31st 2010.

The Fox Valley Symphony Announces 2010-2011 Concert Season

Spectacular array of concerts includes Mendelssohn’s “Reformation Symphony,” the return of Byron Stripling, Cirque de la Symphonie and Ansel Adams: AMERICA

Appleton, WI (March 13, 2010) - The Fox Valley Symphony announces the 2010-2011 Season “Beyond the Expected,” designed to captivate audiences with the finest classical music presented in traditional and very unusual ways.
“Our 2010-2011 Season is both traditional and cutting-edge in its creation,” said Brian Groner, Fox Valley Symphony Music Director. Concerts will include Felix Mendelssohn’s “Reformation” Symphony built upon the hymns of Martin Luther; a tribute to photographer Ansel Adams by father and son, Dave and Chris Brubeck; Cirque de la Symphonie with amazing acrobats and others accompanied by the Symphony; and the return appearance of Byron Stripling, trumpeter, in his “The Gospel According to Swing” show. Nationally recognized soloists will include Wendy Warner, Cellist and Faye Seeman, Harpist.
“Without a doubt, our audiences are eager to hear and see symphonic music concerts presented in new and exciting ways. This season brings world-class artists from the classical and jazz worlds and introduces different theatrical elements to enhance our concerts,” said Marta Weldon, Executive Director. “We continue our mission to provide the finest in classical music while attracting new audience members to our concerts.”

Season Ticket information for the Fox Valley Symphony’s 2010-2011 season is available at www.foxvalleysymphony.com. Flexible ticket packages of Five, Four or Three concerts are available. Ticket packages range from $61 to $197. FVS season ticket holders receive up to a 17% discount over the same number of single tickets. Full season ticket holders receive additional benefits that include private parking.

Single tickets for Fox Valley Symphony season concerts will go on sale in August 2010 through the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center ticket office.

Come and take a tour through the Hearthstone Museum and along the way meet actors in costumes that represent historical American figures.

Registration is now open through June 25th for the 2010 Musical Theatre Boot Camp, presented by vocal coach Robyn Metko. Designed to prepare students ages 12 - 16 for musical theatre auditions and live performances, this activity-based class introduces participants to the techniques used by professional stage entertainers.
