Heritage Hill State Historical Park is please to welcome re-enactors from across the state for its Civil War Reenactment weekend Saturday, June 25th and Sunday, June 26 from 10:00am to 4:30pm each day. Visitors will have the opportunity to view demonstrations of Civil War life from both the military and civilian perspectivies, including the weapons they used. A special treat for the youth is an opportunity to become a soldier for a part of the day, complete with marching, training and eating lunch with your fellow Civil War soldiers. Also, Gnome Games will set up a re-creation of the 1st battle of Bull Run (Manasses). This will be done through a miniature battlefield with soldiers. Each soldier will tell a story and encourage the visitor to live that experience with their soldier...including his fate. At 2pm a fictional battle will be reenacted on the Growing Community green. Follwoing the battle there will be a parade of soldiers from both the Confederate and Union camps.

A summer kids’ event called PandaMania will be hosted at First United Methodist Church from June 26th to June 29th. Kids explore a bamboo forest filled with crazy pandas, as they discover that God loves us. Kids participate in memorable Bible-learning activities, sing catchy songs, play teamwork-building games, dig into yummy treats, experience electrifying Bible adventures, and create crafts they’ll take home and play with all summer long.

Plus, kids will learn to look for evidence of God all around them through something called God Sightings. Each day concludes with a Rowdy Wrap-Up—a celebration that gets everyone involved in living what they’ve learned. Family members and friends (also called Very Important Pandas) are encouraged to join in daily for this special time.

PandaMania is for kids ages 3 through 5^th grade and will run Sunday, June 26^th from 9am – noon and Monday through Wednesday, June 26^th – 29^th from 6-8:15pm. The cost to participate is $7/child or $14/family. For more information, call 235-8430.
