Don't miss the Neville’s own major, juried art exhibition! This annual exhibition has been held each year (with a few exceptions) since it was established by Museum Director Earl G. Wright in 1942.  Paintings, drawings, original prints, photographs, sculpture, and ceramics were all entered by artists living throughout Northeast Wisconsin and Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Always highly competitive, only one in three or sometimes only one in two artworks entered were selected for the exhibition.

This year’s juror is Randall Berndt, co-director and curator at the James Watrous Gallery of the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts, and Letters in the Overture Center for the Arts, Madison, WI.

A Comedy by L. Don Swartz

Two old, grumpy Polish ladies, Lottie & Bernice, become trapped in a television studio by a blizzard and end up taking over Western New York's favorite morning show, "Buffalo Yak". They are helped by two bickering janitors, a wildly ambitious, near-sighted intern who won't wear her glasses, a neurotic program director, and a station manager with marital problems. Things get much worse as the audience witnesses the funniest bad TV ever broadcast!

What was Appleton like during the Progressive Era (1850 – 1920)? The turn of the century was a period of speculation and excitement. Americans felt the excitement of world fairs and new technologies entering their daily lives. This new exhibit at the History Museum hinges on Appleton’s evolution from a fledgling manufacturing town to a modern industrial center. Through a collection of 3,000 photographs, amateur photographer W.D. Schlafer captured this rapidly changing environment during the Progressive Era in the Fox Cities. Visitors will see how much Appleton and the Fox Cities evolved as new technologies and ideas changed the lives of area residents during this transformative period.

This hour long clinic will give you and your child a chance to experience Swimtastic's amazing infant lessons that begin at 6 months to 2 years, and toddler swim lessons for 2 year olds. You'll get a chance to swim in our 90-degree pool, go down our waterslide, and receive a lesson by our professionally trained swim instructors. You will also receive a Free Family Swim Pass for attending! This clinic is FREE so bring a friend and see what Swimtastic is all about!

Where can you play the stock market, run your own lemonade stand, put your face on a million dollar bill, and see samples of currency from pounds to pesos? In Moneyville, that’s where! This exciting new exhibit at the Neville Public Museum will have you seeing money in a whole new way. Ideal for kids grade K-8.

Geology Rocks! incorporates history, art, personal experiences, group activities, regional jobs and Wisconsin’s third largest industry.  This exhibit has it all: fossils, gems, jewelry, killer asteroids, volcanoes, earthquakes, minerals, lapidary, crystals, bedrock, mining, collecting, exhibit graphics and hands-on interactives… and, of course, lots of fascinating rocks!
 

The Appleton Education Foundation is seeking nominations for the fifth annual Thomas G. Scullen Leadership Award.

Nominations will be accepted until 2/29/2012.  The award recognizes a Fox Cities resident who is considered a leader in the field of education.  The winner will be selected in March and receive a $1,000 prize.
