Celebrate the Niagara Escarpment

Come see the newest temporary exhibits at the Weis Earth Science Museum on “the Ledge”—the steep rock cliffs of the Niagara Escarpment, which extends across much of North America.

This exhibit showcases the paintings of the Water’s Edge Artists, who have formed a collaboration with the Lakeshore Natural Resource Partnership to conserve Wisconsin precious land and water resources. These artists create their paintings “on location” in nature (en plein air). All paintings on exhibit at the Weis are available for purchase.

Also featured is a mini-exhibit highlighting the geology and history of the Niagara Escarpment. It includes a game to see if you can match photos of the ledge to their location. The Weis is open seven days a week to the public. Please check our website or give us a call for our business hours. Exhibit ends December 31, 2010.

Voices of Peace Gospel Music Fest

On Friday & Saturday, August 20 & 21, 2010, at the Hilbert Civic Park located on Highway 57/32, in Hilbert, WI. The “Voices of Peace” will host their 6th annual Gospel Fest from 2 PM to 10 PM on Friday, and from 10 AM to 9 PM on Saturday. No admission fees will be charged, just a freewill donation. Bring your lawn chairs, family, and be ready for a wonderful, spirit filled weekend! There will be 20 performing groups, playing country, bluegrass, and southern gospel music from: Iowa, Ohio, Illinois, Missouri, Minnesota, Michigan, Nebraska, Tennessee, Indiana, and Wisconsin. Food, snacks & refreshments will be available on the grounds, Brats and hamburgers, Friday and Saturday, Fish Fry on Friday and chicken breasts on Saturday.

Badger State Games Basketball Tournament (Adult)

The Brown County United Way will kick off its 2010 Community Campaign at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept 9, at Ledgeview Golf Course, 3149 Dickinson Rd., De Pere.
In celebration of the kickoff, companies and individuals across Brown County are invited to submit teams to compete in this nighttime “Glow Golf” outing.
Team members and other kickoff participants will begin with a cookout and raffle. Golfers tee off at 7 p.m.

When Marie's godfather gives her a toy nutcracker for Christmas, she puts it under the Christmas tree just as a mouse scampers by. As we watch, the Nutcracker grows to life-size as a handsome soldier; the mouse grows into a man-size Mouse King, and Marie is transported to the Land of the Sugarplum Fairies, where duels are fought and romance blossoms.

Highland Howie Thursday Night Bicycle Ride

Every Thursday Night, April thru end of October, 2010 :
The Highland Howie's Ride
These are Intermediate Level Rides, which means the pace is 14-16 mph; the rider needs to have Intermediate cycling skills, being able to ride in a group & assist in repairs; may include mid-range terrain with some hills, be brisk but socially paced, with occasional stops to re-group & distance of 20-30 miles; ride will include a Leader &/or someone who will sweep the group during the ride, assist with repairs/issues & try to keep the group together.

6:00 PM. Please note that this ride leaves earlier in September at 5:30 pm and even earlier at 5 pm in October.

Meet in the Rear Parking Lot of Highland Howies, 3605 Humboldt Rd.
Two Routes, long and regular, length depends on weather and time of sunset.
Pace @ 14-16 mph; Longer route is faster.

ATTENTION ALL NATURAL HEALTH-MINDED FAMILIES!! A new chapter of the Holistic Moms Network has formed in the Green Bay Area. The Holistic Moms Network is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting moms with an interest in natural health and mindful parenting. Our chapter will hold monthly meetings on a variety of topics including organic food, natural birthing options, breastfeeding, massage therapy, ‘green’ cleaning, and relieving stress naturally in coming months. In addition, we will be forming playgroups for moms with babies and preschoolers.
